System Engineering is a broad term for a hierarchically structured approach to the design of complicated systems involving multiple electrical and/or software components. The key benefits of adopting a System approach are reduced system development times, fewer integration problems, shorter time-to-market and ultimately greater customer satisfaction. The System Engineering process is fundamentally requirements-driven, and biased towards top-down design. All requirements in the system are ultimately derived from stakeholder requirements via system requirements analysis.
